BIM Healthcare engineering systems constitute a large portion of the cost of construction. It is imperative that contractors and owners have the best possible information to establish budgets and pricing, coordinate trades and make decisions. Engineers and the construction industry have begun to utilize three-dimensional object modeling to perform these tasks. With a three dimensional model of equipment and all of the associated duct, piping and conduit connections, many conflicts can be identified in advance. In addition to typical CAD deliverables, we are currently offering services in REVIT, which employs BIM object design. Building Information Modeling allows us to virtually build the MEP systems within its intended environment to review and track spatial relationships, quantities and properties of the various components. Issues such as serviceability and access can be evaluated early in the design process. The developed database is then utilized for the creation of the construction documents. Proteus Engineering was an early adopter of this technology and has been using it firm wide since 2006 without regard to project size. |
